Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 3, 2026
Tiko Technologies, a company currently being incorporated in Burkina Faso (hereinafter "Tiko") is committed to protecting the privacy and personal data of its users. This Privacy Policy describes the data we collect, how we use, store and protect it, in accordance with current Burkinabe legislation, in particular Law No. 010-2004/AN on the protection of personal data and the recommendations of the Commission de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CIL) of Burkina Faso.
Complete legal notices — final company name, RCCM number and IFU number — will be published as soon as the company is registered.

In the course of using the Tiko platform, we collect the following categories of data:
1.1 Identification data
- First and last name
- Mobile phone number (+226)
- Email address (optional)
- Identity document number (CNIB, passport or driver's license) for passengers
1.2 Transaction data

- Payment information (method used, mobile money transaction reference)
- Transaction amounts
1.3 Technical data
- IP address
- Device type and operating system
- Browsing data (pages visited, session duration)

2. Use of data
The data collected is used for the following purposes:
- Providing the service: processing bookings, issuing electronic tickets, sending confirmations and travel notifications
- Payment management: processing transactions via Orange Money and Moov Money, handling refunds
- Communication: notifications relating to journeys (departure reminders, schedule changes, cancellations)
- Service improvement: anonymized statistical analysis to improve the user experience
- Security: fraud prevention and protection of user accounts
- Legal obligations: compliance with the regulatory requirements of Burkina Faso
Tiko neither sells nor rents the personal data of its users to third parties. Data may be shared with partner transport companies strictly to the extent necessary to perform the transport service.
There is a single exception, and it depends on you: if you accept the Marketing category (section 6.c), a tracker published by Meta Platforms transmits browsing data to that company, outside Burkina Faso. Without that consent, no data goes to Meta. Our audience measurement, for its part, stays on our own servers and is not transmitted to anyone.
3. Data storage and security
Personal data is stored on secure servers. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect the data against any unauthorized access, loss, destruction or alteration:
- Encryption of data in transit (SSL/TLS)
- Encryption of sensitive data at rest
- Strict access control to the data by authorized staff
- Regular backups and a continuity plan
- Periodic security audits
Booking data is kept for a period of three (3) years after the last journey taken. Data from inactive accounts is deleted after two (2) years of inactivity, following prior notice to the user.
4. User rights
In accordance with Burkinabe legislation on the protection of personal data, you have the following rights:
- Right of access: obtain a copy of your personal data held by Tiko
- Right to rectification: request the correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
- Right to erasure: request the deletion of your personal data, subject to legal retention obligations

6. Cookies and trackers
We distinguish three categories. Only the first is active without your consent; the other two are set only after your explicit consent, given category by category.
a. Essential cookies — always on
Authentication, session security and display preferences (language). They are necessary for the service to work and are never used for advertising. They are set on the basis of our legitimate interest in providing a secure service, not on your consent.
b. Audience measurement — subject to your consent
Pages viewed, browsing journeys and usage events, in order to improve the service. This measurement is carried out by our own means: the data is sent to our servers and is not transmitted to any third party. It contains neither your name, nor your number, nor your email address, nor any account identifier: only an anonymous session identifier that expires when the tab is closed and does not allow you to be tracked from one visit to the next. Page addresses are recorded without their parameters. Retention: 13 months maximum.
c. Marketing — subject to your consent
Measuring how well our advertising campaigns perform on social media. If, and only if, you accept this category, a tracker published by Meta Platforms (Facebook) is loaded on your device. This tracker involves a transfer of data outside Burkina Faso, to Meta's infrastructure. If you refuse, this tracker is not loaded at all.
How to give, refuse or withdraw your consent
From your very first visit, a banner offers you, with equal prominence, to accept everything, to refuse everything or to choose category by category. Your decision is stored on your device together with its date and the scope it applies to. You can change it at any time via the "Cookie preferences" link at the bottom of every page. If we add a new purpose, your previous consent is never extended to it: you are asked again. Refusing has no consequence on your access to the service.
7. Changes to the policy
Tiko reserves the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. In the event of a substantial change, users will be informed by a notification on the platform and, where applicable, through the contact channel they provided. Continued use of the platform after notification constitutes acceptance of the changes.
